Meet the people behind JUMP! Canada.
Simon spent his toddler years in Ontario enjoying winter elements in puffy snowsuits but is grateful to now call Vancouver Island home. An avid outdoors enthusiast, he has explored much of the west coast by kayak and a pair of hiking boots. Over the year he spends much of his recreation time with his family at their remote cabin where fishing for dinner is part of life. Simon’s extensive international wanderings started after university with an opportunity to play professional volleyball overseas and eventually led him to Singapore for 15 years. Living, working and travelling extensively in Asia broadened both his personal and professional horizons. Having recently repatriated back home in the midst of the pandemic, Simon is looking forward to drawing on his extensive research and development of skills-based education programs to further JUMP!’s mission of inspiring, empowering and engaging youth here in Canada and the United States.
After spending over eight years living in Southeast Asia, Lisa is back in Canada. She began her travels after university when she moved to Thailand to teach English. From there, she volunteered and worked for different organizations around teaching, training, and community development. Lisa is passionate about education and the role that education plays in community development at both a local and global level. This made JUMP!’s mission and vision a perfect fit for her goals and passions. In her free time, Lisa can be found volunteering virtually (or in person once everything has stabilized more from Covid-19) for different non-profits and NGOs around the world in education. She also enjoys playing board games and being able to travel to different countries and try different types of food. She is excited to JUMP! into her work with JUMP! Canada and Educo.
