Meet the people behind JUMP! Canada.
Simon spent his toddler years in Ontario enjoying winter elements in puffy snowsuits but is grateful to now call Vancouver Island home. An avid outdoors enthusiast, he has explored much of the west coast by kayak and a pair of hiking boots. Over the year he spends much of his recreation time with his family at their remote cabin where fishing for dinner is part of life. Simon’s extensive international wanderings started after university with an opportunity to play professional volleyball overseas and eventually led him to Singapore for 15 years. Living, working and travelling extensively in Asia broadened both his personal and professional horizons. Having recently repatriated back home in the midst of the pandemic, Simon is looking forward to drawing on his extensive research and development of skills-based education programs to further JUMP!’s mission of inspiring, empowering and engaging youth here in Canada and the United States.
After 8+ seasons working on-program in outdoor education across North America, Arizona is thrilled to have transitioned into a year-round, office-based role within the industry. In particular, Arizona is passionate about all that students can learn from experiential programs and then later apply in their everyday lives. She believes one of the most valuable takeaways can be the habit of responding to change and challenges with strength and positivity. She considers herself lucky to be the type of oddball that loves paperwork, organizational systems, and well-composed Excel documents. Because of this, she is more than happy to take on the background work that allows current on-program facilitators to create life-changing experiences for youth in British Columbia and beyond.
In her free time she still gets outside as much as possible including hiking, climbing, and ski touring.
